The story of Esther! Since I'm biased to biblical tales, this film gets a 3 out of 5 instead of the two stars that it would get from a serious critic.
The music and visuals of this film are nice. Despite clumsy continuity issues, and a sometimes-poorly-written script, it has a great theme, and it benefits from the epic nature of the book of Esther.
The anti-semitic villain, Haman, is a descendant of a tribe that the Jews had nearly destroyed completely long, long ago. Agog, king of the Amalekites was spared by Saul's disobedience to God. In the days of Esther, the splintered nation of Israel must suffer for their ancient king's folly. Evil Haman is piecing together a devious genocidal plot to kill all the Jews in Persia. Yet, even in this severe trial, God moves behind the scenes through men and women that show strength and faith in the middle of dire tribulation. The power of God to move and save his people is an overarching theme of the film; love, courage, and faith are also celebrated by this movie. So, despite the low overall rating I am giving it, I want to say that I really enjoyed this film. It will manage to surprise and delight fans of Bible stories and happy endings.

The Princes Bride is a sentimental favorite for children of the eighties and early nineties. It has sword fights, giants, princes and princesses, witty banter, and some very unforgettable characters.
It’s the story of Wesley the Farmboy and Buttercup. Their blissful young love story is interrupted by Wesley's need to raise money. With a funny abruptness, Wesley sets out to sea to seek his fortunes, promising to come back for his beloved. The unthinkable happens when a dreaded pirate attacks his ship and leaves no one alive. Buttercup vows to never love again, but is later taken by royal decree to wed the crown prince.
While on her daily horseback ride, Princess Buttercup is kidnapped by a giant, a Spanish swordsman, and a Sicilian mastermind. They are pursued by a mysterious masked figure clad in black. Who could he be? The story unfolds with a healthy blend of quick-spoken quips and smatterings of sarcasm. It’s a film that manages to glue you to the screen with nothing but good, fun storytelling. A great movie for the whole family!
